Helmut Bieler-Wendt studied composition and improvisation at University Karlsruhe under Prof. Wolfgang Rihm.

Since 2004 Helmut Bieler-Wendt is the director of "Institut für Neue Musik und Muskerziehung". He was a member of THE BLECH from 1989 - 1996.
